Terms of Service

1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the SteadyCue mobile application, web companion, and related services (together, the "Service"), operated by SteadySoft Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "our").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. The Service

SteadyCue is a voice-tracked teleprompter application for tablets and a web companion portal for script management. The Service allows you to write, import, and manage scripts, display them in a teleprompter view, and scroll through them using voice tracking, manual controls, or remote devices.

We may update, modify, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. We'll try to give reasonable notice for significant changes, but the Service is provided on an evolving basis.

3. Your account

You must create an account to use SteadyCue. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us at hi@steadycue.com immediately.

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. By creating an account, you confirm you meet this requirement.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Your content

You retain full ownership of any scripts, text, or content you create or import into SteadyCue ("Your Content"). We do not claim any rights over Your Content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited licence to store, sync, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you — for example, syncing scripts between your tablet and the web companion, or displaying your script in the teleprompter view.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you import into SteadyCue. Don't import content that infringes someone else's copyright or intellectual property.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the application
• Circumvent or attempt to circumvent subscription restrictions, feature gating, or access controls
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, its servers, or its infrastructure
• Create multiple accounts to abuse free tier features or trial periods
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense access to the Service

6. Subscriptions and billing

SteadyCue offers a free tier and a paid subscription ("SteadyCue Pro"). The free tier includes manual scrolling, script management, display customisation, and access to the web companion. SteadyCue Pro adds voice tracking, Bluetooth remote support, Google Drive import, and live production controls.

Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS). Pricing, trial periods, and billing terms are as displayed at the time of purchase and are subject to the respective store's terms.

You can cancel your subscription at any time through your device's subscription management settings (Google Play Store or Apple App Store). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to Pro features until then. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, but you may be eligible for a refund through Google or Apple's refund policies.

We may change subscription pricing in the future. Price changes will not affect your current billing period. We'll provide reasonable notice before any price increase takes effect on your next renewal.

7. Free trial

We may offer a free trial of SteadyCue Pro. Trial terms (duration, features included) are displayed at the time of enrolment. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will begin and you'll be charged the applicable subscription fee. You can cancel the trial at any time through your device's subscription management settings.

8. Voice recognition

SteadyCue's voice tracking feature uses on-device speech recognition to match your spoken words to your script text. On Android, this uses VOSK (an on-device speech recognition engine that runs entirely locally). On iOS, this uses Apple's SFSpeechRecognizer.

Voice recognition accuracy depends on factors including your device, microphone quality, ambient noise, speaking pace, and language. We do not guarantee perfect recognition accuracy. See our Privacy Policy for details on how voice data is handled.

9. Web companion

The web companion at app.steadycue.com allows you to manage scripts and configure teleprompter settings from a desktop browser. The web companion requires an internet connection and a SteadyCue account. Features are synced in real time via Firebase.

Certain web companion features (live view, remote start/stop, live production controls) require an active SteadyCue Pro subscription.

10. Intellectual property

The SteadyCue application, web companion, brand, design, and underlying technology are owned by SteadySoft Ltd. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property except the limited right to use the Service as described here.

The SteadyCue name, logo, and associated marks are trademarks of SteadySoft Ltd.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that voice recognition will achieve any particular level of accuracy. SteadyCue is a production tool — always have a backup plan for critical presentations.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, SteadySoft Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of revenue, data, or business opportunities, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For significant changes, we'll notify users via the app or email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
